North Star Road was closed for several hours Wednesday night after a two-car crash sent three people to the hospital. One car caught fire after the impact, but police say none of the injuries were major.
Canyon County Deputies said a juvenile female was heading northbound on N. Star Road at a high rate of speed when she rear ended another car.
Deputies said the car that was struck was forced into a nearby field. An infant that was in the back seat was unharmed, and released to a family member. Although the mother and father who were in the front seats were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
The car with the juvenile driver crashed into a nearby light pole, and caught on fire. When police arrived on scene the car was fully engulfed in flames before fire fighters were able to put it out.
Deputies say the drive was able to get out on her own, and was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons.
Investigators said the driver may have been under the influence of a substance, but that is still under investigation.
