Orlando, FL : Family of driver in deadly dirt bike crash speaks on Saturday February 20 2016
The driver of a motorcycle that struck and killed a pedestrian on Powers Drive on Saturday night has died from injuries suffered in the crash.
The driver was Clayvon Foster, 30, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.
Foster’s uncle told WESH on Sunday he's still in disbelief about losing his nephew, and heartbroken that a pedestrian was struck and killed as well.
"It's just really just a freak accident how it happened,” Michael Wright said. "It really took me back a lot."
FHP troopers said Foster was one of at least two people riding motor bikes along Powers Drive.
Officials have not been able to confirm details about what exactly led to the crash, but witnesses who spoke to WESH 2 right after said the drivers were racing and jumped the curb at one point to ride on the sidewalk and do stunts.
Foster lost control, hurting himself and striking a woman walking by, troopers said.
"Poor woman. She had nothing to do with it. She was just walking there," on witness said.
The FHP said the victim is 59-year-old Marie Louissant. Both Louissant and Foster were rushed to the hospital. Louissant died from her injuries and Foster suffered the same fate hours later.
"I'm puzzled how that happened. I don't know what they must be going through. She was just walking down the street and all of a sudden she's not here. I feel really sorry for her family. My condolences," Wright said.
