Two people were killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer Thursday evening in Statesville.
Police say Michael Watkins, 62, was driving the Jeep north on Garner Bagnal Boulevard around 5 p.m. and attempted to turn left onto Buffalo Shoals Road. That’s when police say Watkins struck a tractor-trailer heading south on Garner Bagnal Boulevard.
Two people in the Jeep, including Watkins and a passenger, died, officials say. The passenger has not been identified.
The woman who was driving the tractor-trailer was taken to a local hospital for injuries.
