Friendship, MD : Cooksville man dies in crash on I-70 in Howard County on Wednesday, July 9, 2014

A Cooksville man was killed Wednesday on Interstate 70 when the car he was driving rear-ended a box truck that had broken down, according to Maryland State Police.

The driver, identified as Mark Eric Frazier 2nd, 22, of the 14000 block of Riggs Meadow Drive, was traveling eastbound in the left lane on I-70, near the Route 32 intersection, about 9 a.m. when his 2007 Chevy Impala rear-ended an Izuzu box truck that was broken down on the shoulder but was partially sitting in the left-hand lane, police said.

Frazier was pronounced dead when paramedics from Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene.
Police said the driver of the truck was not injured and that no charges had been filed.

The crash scattered debris and vehicles along the road, causing the closure of all eastbound lanes on I-70, according to Charlie Gischlar, spokesman for the State Highway Administration.
Gischlar said I-70 westbound was also closed temporarily as police investigated the crash, but has since been reopened.
