Turnpike, KS : Emporia woman injured in Turnpike crash on Monday, 15th October 2018
The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that sent an Emporia woman to the hospital Monday evening.
According to a report by the Kansas Highway Patrol, 71-year-old Evelyn Dix of Emporia was northbound near mile-marker 129 of the Kansas Turnpike — two miles north of the Emporia tollgate — at 7:35 p.m. when her 2005 Kia Sedona left the roadway. The report states she struck the right guardrail before crossing back over both lanes of traffic and entering the center median. The vehicle came to a rest facing east after striking another guardrail in the median.
Dix was transported to Newman Regional Health with non-life threatening injuries. She was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol’s report.
