EAST HADDAM, CT : Salem woman seriously hurt in high-speed weekend crash in East Haddam on Saturday, 5th November 2016
A Salem woman was seriously injured Saturday during an accident in which the driver of the car she was a passenger in left the roadway and crashed into a tree, police say.
A Dodge Charger driven by Alexander J. Ferguson, 21, of Rathbun Hill, Salem, Saturday at about 3:15 p.m. was traveling south on Hopyard Road at a high rate of speed, according to a release from Connecticut State Police Troop K in Colchester. Ferguson lost control of his car, which flew into the air, the report says, and hit a tree off the right side of the street.
His female front passenger suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was airlifted by Life Star to Hartford Hospital, police say, while Ferguson was taken to Middlesex Marlborough Clinic for minor injuries.
Hopyard Road, otherwise known as Route 434, is near Devil’s Hopyard Park.
State police are investigating.
