ATLANTA, GA : 1 dead in crash involving car, tractor-trailer on I-85 on Thursday, 9th May 2024

At least one person is dead after a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car on Interstate 85 Thursday morning, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The crash happened south of SR-20 along the northbound lanes of I-85, which is near the I-985 split, Gwinnett County police said.

Gwinnett County police shut down all lanes of traffic for the investigation, but three had re-opened by 10 a.m. GDOT says they expect all lanes to be clear by 11 a.m.

Heavy rain was in the area for much of the morning as a line of storms moved across the I-85 corridor. It is unclear, however, if weather was a factor in the crash.
