PHOENIX, AZ : Multiple people hospitalized after 5-car crash in Phoenix on Saturday, 17th February 2024

Several people, including a child, were injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.

Around 3:15 p.m., Phoenix police officers were investigating a car crash just south of 35th Avenue and Thomas Road when another collision occurred just east of the intersection. Police say that the new wreck involved five cars, and multiple people were taken to the hospital, including one person with life-threatening injuries. The Phoenix Fire Department also said that a child was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Francisco Corral says he was on his way to the cemetery to visit his wife, who passed away a couple of weeks ago when his car was rear-ended. “Still in shock. Just, I don’t know. There was a car accident, and kids were involved, and I just hope they’re alright,” said Corral.

Phoenix police say everyone hurt in the crash is expected to survive, and a man is being processed for DUI. The intersection was closed as police investigated what led to the collision. It has since reopened.
