Pierce City, MO : Wentworth woman injured in wreck on Highway 97 north of Pierce City on Friday, April 15, 2016

A Wentworth woman was injured Friday in a wreck at 9 p.m. on Highway 97, five miles north of Pierce City.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Tammy Shelton, 56, of Wentworth, was driving a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound when her vehicle traveled off the roadway, struck a road sign and struck a bridge rail.

Shelton suffered moderate injuries and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

She was wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.
