ROCKFORD, IL : 1 dead in multivehicle crash on Spring Creek on Wednesday, 5th September 2018

A 36-year-old Rockford man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Spring Creek Road near Eisenhower Middle School.

Police said the man was driving a red Mitsubishi 3000 GT east on Spring Creek about 1:15 p.m. when he drifted across the centerline and crashed into a westbound maroon-colored vehicle. The maroon car was in the left lane and swerved into the right lane striking a westbound van.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was extricated and taken to the hospital where he died. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The woman driving the maroon car also was taken to the hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening. Neither the driver nor the passenger in the van were hurt.

The 3500 block of Spring Creek was shut down while police investigated the crash.
