JACKSONVILLE, FL : Woman, 81, dies after crash on St. Augustine Road on April, Thursday 6th 2017

An 81-year-old woman died after a crash Thursday night in the San Jose neighborhood, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The crash was reported about 8:30 p.m. on St. Augustine Road at Via De La Reina Street.

According to JSO, a red car driven by Roberta Barr pulled out in front of a black Acura heading west on St. Augustine Road, and the two vehicles collided.

A doctor who witnessed the crash pulled Barr out of the vehicle and performed CPR, police said. She was then taken to a hospital, where she later died, police said. The driver of the Acura was not injured. Traffic homicide detectives were called to investigate.

Neighbors told News4Jax on Friday that Barr was full of life and the community won't be the same without her.

"It's definitely a loss for the neighborhood. She was just one of those people who kind of helped bring everyone together," Dawn DeGeorgio said. "She was just a really, really good person."

Barr, a mother of three children, loved her dogs and enjoyed gardening, her neighbors said.

"I'm just going to miss that smile," Vincent Simmons said.
