WATERBORO, ME : Box truck driver charged in crash that seriously injured baby on Route 202 on Thursday, 10th January 2019

The driver of a box truck that slammed into a turning SUV Thursday morning on Route 202 in Waterboro has been charged, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.

A 10-month old girl in the SUV was hospitalized after the crash and is in critical condition, officials said.The driver, Rene Romero, 53, of Lynn, Massachusetts, is charged with aggravated driving to endanger.

The crash on Main Street, which is also Route 202, happened around 6:30 a.m.

Deputies said the SUV was hit from behind by a box truck while attempting to turn left onto Straw Mill Brook Road.

The baby was flown to Maine Medical Center with critical injuries, York County Sheriff Bill King said.
