Lake Mary,FL : Lake Mary teen killed after car strikes tree, troopers say on August, Saturday 26th 2017

Lake Mary teen was killed late Saturday after his car struck a tree and caught fire on Interstate 4, troopers said.

Brandon Thai, 17, was driving a Nissan 370Z on eastbound I-4 when his vehicle veered off the road near exit 101A, which is north of Lake Mary, a trooper’s crash report states.

The driver’s side of the car hit a tree and caught fire at about 11:11 p.m. Saturday, troopers said.

A Seminole County deputy sheriff and another he was training were in the westbound lanes when the crash happened and crossed the eastbound lanes of the highway on foot to help.

They removed Thai, who was unconscious, from the fire.

Thai died at the scene, troopers said.

The crash is still under investigation.
