Thibodaux, TX : Man in wheelchair killed in Thibodaux crash on Wednesday, 27th February 2019

A 54-year-old man was killed this afternoon in Thibodaux after a vehicle slammed into his electric wheelchair, State Police said.
The crash claimed the life of Thibodaux resident Carl Guidry, Senior Trooper Jesse LaGrange said.
Shortly after 2 p.m. Guidry was traveling west in the westbound lane of Choctaw Road just east of Tabor Lane in an electric wheelchair near the white line on the side of the road, LaGrange said.
Guidry then moved to the left and entered the travel lane as a 1996 Jeep Cherokee driven by 77-year-old Thibodaux Charles Richard Jr. approached from behind in a left curve, LaGrange said.
Guidry suffered fatal injuries after his wheelchair was struck by the Cherokee and he was pronounced dead at the scene, LaGrange said. Richard, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
