BELTON, TX : Fatal three-car accident forces temporary Closure of FM 1670 on Thursday, 13th June 2024

A three-car accident on FM 1670 that took place Thursday evening has prompted authorities to temporarily close the road at Auction Barn Road as officers work to manage the scene.

The collision, which was initially reported as a two-car accident around 5:15 p.m. that day, resulted in the death of one person, according to Belton Police. John Cowen, 70, of Salado, was identified as the man that was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey. Police say next of kin has been notified.
