BEEKMANTOWN, NY : One killed, another injured in two-car accident on Sunday, March 12th 2017
One person died and another was injured in a two-car accident on Rand Hill Road in the Town of Beekmantown Sunday afternoon.
Names of those involved were not being released Sunday evening, pending notification of next of kin, State Police Troop B Bureau of Criminal Investigation Capt. Robert LaFountain said.
At 3:12 p.m., State Police in Plattsburgh were dispatched to the accident, which occurred on the Beekmantown and Altona town line.
Both fire and rescue agencies for those towns responded as well.
The operator of one of the cars was taken to University of Vermont Health Network, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh and was undergoing treatment, LaFountain said Sunday evening.
The operator of the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the accident site, he said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
"The collision remains under investigation by the State Police, including State Police in Chazy, Plattsburgh, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Collision Reconstruction Unit," LaFountain said.
Scanner reports indicated the accident was a head-on collision with entrapment.
Rand Hill Road was closed off near the intersection of Jersey Swamp Road for a time following the incident.
No further details were available Sunday evening.
