Racine County , WI : Pickup driver killed after fiery crash with oncoming vehicle in Racine County on Sunday morning ,May 24th 2015

The driver of a pickup truck died in a fiery crash Sunday morning in Racine County after a northbound driver crossed the center of the road, striking the pickup and sending it into a ditch.

By the time emergency responders arrived at the scene on Highway 75, just south of Highway A in the Town of Kansasville, they found the Chevrolet truck engulfed in flames, the Racine County Sheriff's Office said Sunday. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and could not be saved.

Identification is being withheld while authorities notify family members.

A preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a Ford Escape was northbound on Highway 75 when he or she fell asleep, drifted into the southbound lane and struck the pickup.

The driver of the Escape and a passenger were treated for minor injuries. Their names were not released.

Further details about the cause of the crash are still under investigation, authorities said.
