A Crescent City woman was killed when her vehicle collided with a large tree on U.S. 101 near Klamath Beach Road early Saturday morning.
The woman was driving a 2006 Pontiac Vibe northbound on U.S. 101 approaching Klamath Beach Road, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. For unknown reasons, the driver turned her vehicle to the right, traveling onto the east shoulder of U.S. 101 before colliding with a large tree.
The woman has been identified as 48-year-old Danielle Coney, according to Del Norte County Sheriff’s Cmdr. Bill Steven.
Emergency personnel with the CHP and CALFIRE arrived on scene at about 6:15 a.m. and pronounced the woman dead, according to the news release. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
