Janesville , WI : 20- Years old woman charged after crash that killed woman and injured Two children on Saturday ,June 13th 2015

A 20-year-old Janesville woman was charged Monday with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle after a crash Saturday night that left one woman dead and two children hospitalized with injuries.

Wearing orange prison garb, Mackenzi Sue Adams appeared via video conference in Rock County Circuit Court.

According to a criminal complaint, Adams was intoxicated while driving a Ford Taurus north on I-39/I-90.

Around mile marker 186, the car struck a median guardrail about 11:26 p.m., and two drivers, one in a Dodge Caravan and another in a VW Jetta, stopped to help the young woman, the complaint said.

A semitrailer truck then hit all three cars.

The victim of the crash was identified as Jessica Lynn Border, 26, of Lake Geneva. She was traveling in the VW Jetta with her husband, Justin Border, and their two children, ages 5 and 8.

After the crash, Justin Border told a state trooper that he noticed his younger son was crying and his older son was not responsive. His wife was pronounced dead at the scene.

The children remain hospitalized in Illinois.

Adams told a Beloit police officer that she was headed home after working at Lake View Campground on Lake Koshkonong in Newville. Asked if she knew what happened, Adams told the officer, "I was probably going too fast and lost control of my vehicle and hit something," the complaint said.

The officer said he could smell a strong odor of intoxicants and that Adams' eyes were glassy and bloodshot, according to the criminal complaint. A legal blood draw was taken at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

A court commissioner set a bail at $2,000 and required that Adams consume no alcoholic beverages, refrain from driving and follow a curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. at her mother's home.
