Lafollette,TN : Truck driver cited in I-75 work zone crash on October, Tuesday 24th 2017
The driver of a tractor-trailer that crashed into a work zone on soundbound Interstate 75 in Campbell County on Oct. 24 received a citation for failure to exercise due care, according to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
According to Region 1 Community Relations Officer Mark Nagi with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, no workers were injured in the crash.
The truck driver, Ala S. Abdallah, 37, from Burbank, Ill., was also uninjured, according to the THP report.
The report states that traffic had been restricted to one lane from the 138 mile marker to the 134 mile marker, but Abdallah’s vehicle left its lane and entered the closed lane, continuing into the construction zone and striking an unoccupied truck as well as a light tower and air compressor.
Nagi said the tractor-trailer drove behind TDOT’s concrete barriers in that work zone and that the crash occurred around the 135-mile marker.
