KOOTENAI COUNTY, ID : Athol man killed in suspected DUI motorcycle crash on Sunday, 15th September 2024

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Sunday night and law enforcement suspects alcohol was a factor.

According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, a passerby saw a crashed motorcycle and an unconscious rider around 6 p.m. on Ramsey Road near Brunner Road about 10 miles north of Hayden.

KCSO says the rider was identified as 45-year-old Johnny Pankoke of Athol and pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies are investigating but they do not believe any other vehicles were involved. KCSO says DUI is suspected.
