Boston,MA : Suspect in hit-and-run death of cyclist held on $25,000 bail on may, wednesday 10th 2017

A Boston driver charged with striking and killing a bicyclist last month has been held on $25,000 bail.

Malone Kidanemariam pleaded not guilty Wednesday to leaving the scene of an accident causing death.

Police say he struck Richard Archer as he cycled through the city’s Back Bay neighborhood at about 3:30 a.m. on April 30 then left the scene without stopping.

The 29-year-old Archer died at the hospital two days later.

Prosecutors say the suspect was driving a rented vehicle that was found in a nearby parking garage with front-end damage and a cracked windshield. He turned himself in Tuesday.

Dozens of family and friends showed up in court to support Kidanemariam. An uncle called him a good person, with a good job and no previous run-ins with the police.
