One person died and two were injured as a result of a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon southwest of Upland.
Delna Wempen, 82, of Minden died of blunt force trauma following the crash around 4 p.m. north of the Highways 4 and 10 junction at mile marker 21 on Highway 10, a Franklin County Sheriff’s Office press release said.
Wempen was the passenger of a Dodge pickup driven by Jacob Wempen, 20, also of Minden that collided with a Dodge Charger driven by Charles Fisher, 48, of Esbon, Kan. Both drivers were taken to Kearney County Health Services in Minden where Wempen was released.
Fisher remained hospitalized in serious condition late this morning.
The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash. The Franklin Volunteer Fire Department, the Franklin County Attorney and the Kearney County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
