Foster, R.I : One person injured in a fatal car accident on Route 101 West in Foster on Wednesday, November 26, 2014
The Rhode Island State Police and the Foster Police Department are investigating a fatal car accident on Route 101 West in Foster that happened shortly after noon on Wednesday.
The initial investigation revealed that a red Honda Fit was traveling west on Route 101 approximately 200 yards from the Connecticut state line when the operator lost control due to poor road conditions and veered into the eastbound lane. The Honda Fit was then struck in the passenger side by a silver Toyota corolla that was traveling east on Route 101.
The operator of the Honda Fit, Siobhan Ross-Humphries, age 45, of Providence, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the Toyota corolla, George Loiselle, 77, of Warwick, was transported to Day Kimble Hospital in Connecticut.
Members of the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, Scituate Barracks and Criminal Identification Units are conducting the investigation with the Foster Police Department and the Connecticut State Police. A preliminary investigation indicates that poor weather conditions may have been a factor in the crash, according to a news release.
