Opelika, AL : Opelika man dies after traffic accident on Monday, December 26th 2016
A 28-year-old man died in a traffic accident in Opelika early Monday morning.
Opelika police and fire and rescue units of the Opelika Fire Department responded to a call about a traffic accident with injuries in the 300 block of Cusseta Road at approximately 12:37 a.m., according to a press release from the Opelika Police Department.
Lee County Coroner Bill Harris pronounced the victim dead at the scene at 12:55 a.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling west on Cusseta Road when it left the road and struck a tree.
The investigation is still underway, and identification of the driver is being withheld pending notification of the family.
