Tucson, AZ : Woman sitting at Tucson bus stop killed when hit by car on Monday, Oct 12, 2015

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in the death of a woman killed when a car slammed into a bus stop where she was sitting.

Tucson police says Colin Patterson allegedly left the crash site on foot Monday but was detained in a nearby apartment complex by at least two witnesses.

Police said the crash occurred when Patterson was driving on street, suddenly turned, lost control, went over a median and crossed traffic lanes before slamming into the bus stop.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.

Patterson was jailed on suspicion of manslaughter, endangerment, hit and run involving a death, criminal damage, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

It could not be immediately determined whether he has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
