Santa Cruz ,CA : 44 -Years old woman injured and hospitalized after Two Vehicle Crash Empire Grade Road near the Heller Drive entrance to UC on Saturday ,March 28th 2015

Thurston Erickson, 44, was identified by authorities Thursday in a fatal crash on Empire Grade Road near the Heller Drive entrance to UC Santa Cruz.

The two-vehicle crash was about 2 p.m. Saturday, said Santa Cruz County sheriff’s detective Nick Baldridge.

A woman injured in the crash remained in a hospital Thursday, Baldridge said. Her condition continued to improve.

Erickson recently moved to Bonny Doon from Aptos, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol officers were not available late Thursday to describe what led to the crash. The CHP, Santa Cruz Fire and Bonny Doon firefighters responded to the collision.
