New York, NY : Motorcyclist dies after crash with car in Davenport at the intersection with 14th Street on Monday, 26th August 2019

A Davenport motorcycle accident left one dead Monday night after the operator was witnessed driving recklessly.

A motorcycle was headed southbound on Harrison Street at about 9:43 p.m. when it collided into a car at the intersection with 14th Street, according to a news release. Witnesses observed the motorcycle driving recklessly at high speeds prior to the crash.

The eastbound car was occupied by only its driver, a Rock Island, Illinois, man, who attempted to enter the "perceived clear intersection" when he drove into the motorcyclist's path, according to the release. This caused the motorcycle to "panic brake" and lose control.

The motorcycle crashed onto its side before sliding into the driver's side of the car. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and died shortly after being transported to Genesis East Hospitals.

There were no other injuries in the crash.
