San Jose , CA : Three people were killed when a car slammed into two trees near a freeway interchange and burst into flames on Sunday morning , February 1st 2015
Three people killed early Sunday morning when a car slammed into two trees near a freeway interchange and burst into flames have not yet been publicly identified, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fiery crash just before 2 a.m. killed two men and a woman, all three of whom were inside a 2005 Infiniti sedan when CHP officers arrived at the site on southbound Highway 101 just south of the Interstate 680 interchange. CHP Officer Daniel Hill said the driver was a 34-year-old San Jose man, and a 31-year-old San Jose woman was one of the passengers. Their identities were not released pending notification of relatives. The second passenger was an unidentified man the patrol had no information about.
According to the highway patrol, the driver of the sports sedan was traveling south on Highway 101 and for unknown reasons went off the right side of the road. Hill said the car hit one tree, traveled a bit further and crashed into another tree. The car came to a rest on an embankment near I-680 and then caught fire.
A San Jose Fire Department crew actually arrived first on the fiery scene. After extinguishing the flames, firefighters discovered the three victims inside the car. An online video posted by television station KPIX-5 showed the gruesome aftermath. The car was mangled and heavily burned.
