LAKE WALES, FL : Man airlifted after crash on State Road 60 on Thursday, March 9th 2017
A 31-year-old Bartow man is in critical but stable condition Thursday after his car rear-ended a truck that was stopped on State Road 60 at the railroad crossing just west of Central Avenue, the Lake Wales Police Department reported.
Kristopher Perry was taken to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, the department said.
The accident happened shortly before 9 a.m. when a 2013 International fuel truck, driven by James Jackson, 54, of Lake Wales, was westbound on SR 60 and stopped in the outside lane at the railroad crossing.
Perry, who was driving a 2009 Ford Mustang, was coming up behind the truck. For unknown reasons, he failed to stop or change lanes to pass the truck, police said.
The Mustang crashed into the back of the truck.
