Chico, CA : Bicyclist suffers minor injuries in downtown Chico crash on Monday morning, May 23, 2016
A bicyclist Monday morning suffered minor injuries after the police said he crashed into the side of a pickup in downtown Chico.
The incident happened about 10 a.m., when the driver of a green Toyota Tacoma was southbound on Broadway and began a right-hand turn toward West Second Street, Chico police Officer Terry Tupper said.
A male cyclist also was southbound on Broadway, traveling in a bike lane when he allegedly failed to yield to the turning pickup and crashed into the side of the vehicle, Tupper said.
Both the pickup and bicyclist were traveling under a green light, and it appeared the female driver had been waiting for pedestrians to finish crossing West Second Street in a crosswalk, Tupper said.
The bicyclist suffered minor injuries and was taken to Enloe Medical Center.
The names of the driver and cyclist were not immediately available.
The crash remained under investigation.
