Estes Park, CO : Coroner identifies Sunday's crash victims on Sunday, 22nd August, 2016
Officials from the Larimer County Coroner's Office released the identities on Monday of the married couple who died i n a crash Sunday afternoon near the mouth of the Big Thompson Canyon on U.S. 34.
According to the agency, Joshua and Sherri Zander of Fort Collins were killed instantly when the motorcycle they were riding collided head on with a vehicle. Their ages were not released.
An autopsy determined the Zanders died of accidental multiple blunt force injuries.
The crash was reported just after 5 p.m. Sunday, according to Loveland Fire Rescue Authority officials. Agency officials reported the crash was near the Dam Store, very close to Larimer County Road 22H.
However, no other details about the accident were disclosed. Crews closed U.S. 34 for several hours as law enforcement conducted a crash investigation.
Rocky Mountain National Park officials reported heavy traffic in the park over the weekend, meaning many drivers from Northern Colorado had to use the alternate route of U.S. 36 to return home.
