Goshen, IN : Elkhart woman crashes in Michigan, leaves scene on April, Saturday 1st 2017
A 43-year-old Elkhart woman reportedly fled from Cass County police Saturday after being involved in a collision while intoxicated at a Michigan campground.
At 6:53 p.m., Cass County police officers responded to a report of the collision at the campground near Bair Lake in the 12000 block of Prang Street, Newberg Township, Michigan, according to a news release. Officers were told at the scene the woman, who was described as being possibly intoxicated, had been involved in a verbal argument with witnesses and fled the scene of the collision into a nearby wooded area.
Police dog “Faust” responded to the location and began to track the woman. About 10 minutes into the track, police said Faust found the woman laying down in the wooded area.
The woman was detained and brought back to the scene of the traffic collision where she was provided medical treatment by Newberg Township EMS, police said. After treatment, the woman was placed under arrest and taken to the Cass County Jail on charges of driving under the influence and causing a crash, possession of an open alcohol container in the vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police didn’t release the Elkhart woman’s name.
