Boardman, OR : 58-year-old William R. Brooks died in Morrow County accident on Thursday, July 2, 2015

A motorcycle rider was killed in Morrow County after police say he tried to access the on-ramp onto Interstate 84 through the median.

Oregon State Police say the accident happened at about 11 p.m. on Thursday at the I-84/U.S. Route 730 interchange.

Investigators say 58-year-old William R. Brooks of Boardman, who was riding a 2002 Harley Davidson, was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 730 when he missed the on-ramp onto Interstate 84. He then attempted to navigate through the median to re-enter the on-ramp.

Brooks was ejected from his motorcycle when his motorcycle struck a culvert. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol consumption is being considered as a contributing factor.
