Punta Gorda,FL : 1 critically injured after 3-vehicle crash on June, Tuesday 13th 2017

A three-vehicle crash blocked the SR-31 and Bermont Road intersection in Punta Gorda.

The crash involved a dump truck, pickup truck, and a passenger vehicle, according to police.

Florida Highway Patrol says the pickup truck on Bermont Road drove into the intersection into the path of the dump truck that was heading north on SR-31. The force of that initial crash pushed the pickup truck head on into the car that was heading south on SR-31.

Several emergency responders were on the scene, including a medical helicopter and two fire engines.

The driver of the car, a 52-year-old Fort Myers man, was transported to the Lee Trauma Center with serious injuries. Officials said he was trapped in the car and had to be freed.

No one in the other two trucks suffered any injuries.
