COLONIE, NY : Medical issue suspected in Latham crash on Saturday, October, 28th 2017

Police say a medical issue may be behind a crash at about noon on Troy Schenectady Road near Delatour Road in Latham Saturday.
A 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe driven Thomas Thorpe, 59, of Vermont View Drive in Latham was eastbound when it left the road and struck a traffic signal pole head on, police said.
Witnesses told officers that just before the collision it appeared that the driver was suffering from a medical emergency.
Thorpe was taken from the scene by Colonie EMS to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he remains at last check in critical condition, according to police.
The Colonie Police Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.
