Kosciusko County, IN : 1 dead in Kosciusko County crash on U.S. 30 on Saturday 27th October 2018

One person is dead after a crash on U.S. 30 this morning, the Kosciusko County sheriff's department said.

Around 6:40 a.m., the sheriff's department said it was called to U.S. 30 at County Road 350 West to a crash involving a semi and a passenger car.

Witnesses told deputies the semi, going north on 350 West, was slowing or stopping at the median to turn west onto U.S. 30 when it was struck by a passenger car going east.

When deputies arrived, they said they found the car had gone under the semi trailer. The car's driver, Kristopher R. Reed, 40, of North Judson, died at the scene, the statement said. It said the driver of the semi, Piotr Lubecki, 45, of Wheatfield, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
