Bithlo, FL : Two people killed when SUV crashes into tree in Orange County early Thursday, July 14, 2016

Two people were killed and a third was injured early Thursday in a single-vehicle crash in east Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the fatal crash was reported after a driver lost control of a Ford Explorer on Fort Christmas Road near Lake Pickett Road.

The SUV went off the road and hit a tree, the FHP said.

The driver and a passener were pronounced dead at the scene, according to troopers. The third victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, the FHP said.

The crash shut down Fort Christmas Road while troopers conducted an investigation.
