Lake Placid, FL : 75-year-old man died in a crash on U.S. 27 near Lake June Road on Friday, September 23, 2016

A 75-year-old man died Sept. 23 after he lost control of his vehicle while traveling south on U.S. 27 near Lake June Road, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Gene Quinn Prince of Lake Placid was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.

The accident occurred about 6:35 a.m. when Prince’s vehicle traveled off the road into a median, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle, authorities said.

The vehicle rotated across the southbound lanes, and the driver of a second vehicle heading south tried to avoid impact, but collided with Prince’s vehicle, which rotated back across the lanes and into the median, FHP added.

Gerald C. Morrison, 60, of Cedar Creek, Texas, and his passenger, Barbara J. Morrison, 52, also of Cedar Creek, Texas, were not injured in the accident.
