Westminster,MD : 5 hospitalized, one with life-threatening injuries following crash on I-695 on November, Thursday 30th 2017

23-year-old Westminster man suffered life-threatning injuries in a beltway crash that hospitalized five people Thursday evening, Maryland State Police said.

The crash involved five vehicles and took place around 6 p.m. along Interstate 695 near Charles Street in the Timonium area, police said.

Police said the Westminster man was driving a 2016 Kia Forte “in a reckless manner by weaving between cars with disregard and excessively speeding.”

Police said “an odor of an alcoholic beverage” was detected on the man, and “several empty alcoholic beverage containers” were located in the car.

The crash blocked all lanes of the highway, closing it to through traffic and detouring vehicles onto Charles Street during the investigation.
