Concord,NH : Driver indicted after crash seriously injures Concord man on November, Tuesday 7th 2017
A grand jury has indicted a Pembroke man accused of driving impaired in a car crash that seriously injured a backseat passenger.
Peter Richard, 33, faces a felony charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated in connection with the single-car crash on July 30 in Barnstead that left Kristopher Prescott, a Concord resident and longtime area bartender, in a coma.
Authorities allege Richard lost control of the vehicle he was driving on Narrows Road, causing it to strike a tree. The other passenger in the car was off-duty Concord police officer Dana Dexter, according to court records.
Both Richard and his husband, Dexter, were taken to Concord Hospital following the crash.
New Hampshire State Trooper Christopher Carter interviewed Richard at the hospital and noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage, that Richard’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and that Richard was speaking with a “thick tongue” at times during the conversation, according to court records. Richard denied drinking any alcohol that night.
Prescott was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment of a traumatic brain injury and several broken bones, his family said this summer.
Prescott’s family has asked for donations for medical expenses not covered by insurance and to help with his long-term care. Casey Prescott, of Reading, Mass., who created the GoFundMe campaign, posted last month that Kristopher Prescott had made noticeable progress and was receiving daily occupational and physical therapy at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston.
