ELLENSBURG, WA : Two taken to Seattle hospital after rollover crash near Ellensburg on Thursday, October 6th, 2016
Two people were seriously injured in an early morning crash on Vantage Highway 4 miles east of Ellensburg.
Twenty-three-year-old Rodrigo Contreras-Ruiz of Mattawa was driving east at 3:55 a.m. when he lost control of his Volkswagon Jetta, which entered an irrigation ditch and rolled several times before coming to rest on its wheels, according to a news release issued by the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office
Contreras-Ruiz suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. His passenger, 19-year-old Abigail Smith from Ellensburg was taken to KVH Hospital, but later transferred to Harborview, according to release.
Contreras-Ruiz is in critical condition and Smith is in satisfactory condition.
Officials believe speed and alcohol were involved in the crash, but the investigation is continuing by the Washington State Patrol and the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.
