Ashland, WI : Motorist killed and two people injured in a head-on crash in Ashland County on U.S. 2 at Kagerville Road on Monday morning, November 24, 2014
One person was killed and two people were injured Monday morning in a head-on crash between a Bad River Police Department squad car and another vehicle in Ashland County.
The crash happened just before 11 a.m. on U.S. 2 at Kagerville Road, about 5 miles east of Ashland, the Ashland County Sheriff's Office reported. A lake-effect snow advisory was in effect for Ashland County at the time of the crash, and highways in the area were reported as snow-covered.
A passenger in the vehicle that collided with the squad car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to a hospital in Duluth, authorities said.
The officer in the squad car was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Ashland.
The names of those involved in the crash were not released Monday, pending notification of family members. A Wisconsin State Patrol crash reconstruction specialist was dispatched to the scene to assist with the investigation.
