Jacksonville, NC : Two people injured in a multiple vehicle collisions on William Gurganus Road on Wednesday morning, January 21, 2015
Jacksonville, North Carolina
A man avoided multiple vehicle collisions on a county highway this morning before his car overturned, authorities say.
According to Trooper John Guzman of Highway Patrol, at about 11:30 a.m. an SUV driven by Anthony Amos, 61, of Jacksonville, was driving east on N.C. 53 when a green SUV driven by Roselind Berry, 55, of Jacksonville, drove through the intersection of N.C. 53 and William Gurganus Road, pulling out in front of him.
Guzman said Amos swerved right to avoid contact with Berry's vehicle then swerved left to avoid contact with another vehicle, running off the road. Guzman said Amos tried turning back onto the road but over corrected, running off the road again, and swerved back to the left. At this point, Guzman said Amos' vehicle struck a ditch and overturned, landing on its top.
Amos and his wife, who was riding with him, were taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, Guzman said, but his car appears to be totaled with about $8,000 worth of damage done to it.
The green SUV driven by Berry did not sustain any damage, Guzman said.
