Grand Valley man dies in Warren wreck in New jersey
A Grand Valley man was killed and five people were hurt in a two-vehicle accident Thursday evening, along state Route 27, between Pittsfield and Garland.
According to state police with the Warren barracks, the deceased is 46-year-old Paul R. Baker, of 12676 state Route 27, in Grand Valley.
Police said the accident happened Thursday, at 7:32 p.m., as a vehicle operated by Jason Johnson, 34, of Titusville, was traveling west on Route 27. Police said the Johnson vehicle hit standing water in the road and spun a number of times before striking an eastbound vehicle operated by 42-year-old Brian Bull, of Youngsville.
Troopers said Baker, who was a passenger in the Johnson vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said five people involved in the collision, including Tyler Muir, who was a passenger in the Johnson vehicle, and a 9-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, both of Youngsville, were transported for treatment of injuries. The adults' injuries ranged from moderate to severe. Information about individual conditions was not released on Friday. The children sustained minor injuries and were released from the hospital.
All occupants of the Bull vehicle were wearing seat belts. All occupants of the Johnson vehicle were not wearing seat belts.
Police said the investigation is continuing and charges are possible.
Baker was a 1985 graduate of Youngsville High School. He was a member of the Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
His calling hours will be held at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., in Titusville, on Sunday, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, at 2 p.m.
