A 10-year-old girl from Gainesville was killed Saturday afternoon and two others were injured in a Marion County crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Pearlie M. Gibbs, 35, of Gainesville, was traveling northbound on I-75 around 2:41 p.m., a report states.
A second vehicle being driven by Kevin R. Chasteen, 21, of Tampa, was also traveling northbound on I-75.
Gibbs was traveling in the center lane in her Kia Sorento, and Chasteen's Chrysler Pacifica was in the left lane.
Gibbs began to change into the left lane, which caused Chasteen to turn left and avoid Gibbs.
The two vehicles collided as a result.
Jamiya Postell, 10, was in the backseat of Gibbs' vehicle and wasn't wearing a seatbelt, a report states. Postell was thrown from the SUV and died at the scene of the crash, troopers said.
Gibbs was critically injured and was airlifted to UF Health in Gainesville.
Another passenger, 18-year-old Jakera Postell, suffered minor injuries.
Chasteen wasn't injured in the crash.
Charges are pending.
