Brevard County,FL : Man seriously hurt after SUV crashes into Brevard fire station on August, Monday 14th 2017

A Merritt Island man was seriously injured after he suffered a medical emergency and crashed his SUV into a Brevard County fire station Monday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say 41-year-old Ernest Jones was driving eastbound on King Street around 7:45 p.m. when he suffered an unspecified medical episode. Jones’ 2003 Chevrolet SUV left the road and went through a ditch before hitting Brevard County Fire Station 44, according to FHP Sgt. Kim Montes.

The SUV hit an empty office and nobody inside the station was injured, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue.

Jones was taken to the hospital in serious condition, troopers said. It’s not clear whether the injuries are associated with the original medical emergency or the crash.
