One person is dead in ATV crash on U.S 40
One person is dead after a crash early Monday morning involving an ATV and at least one pickup truck on U.S. 40 in Duchesne County.
The crash happened after 4 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. 40 and 6250 South. It is being investigated by Bureau of Indian Affairs police because the person who died is an enrolled tribal member and the area is within the boundaries of the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation.
Bureau police were not releasing any information about the crash. However, investigators appeared to be working to determine whether the rider of the ATV was hit by one pickup truck or two. They are also trying to establish if the ATV rider was attempting to cross the highway, or was riding along the shoulder when he was hit.
One lane has been closed on U.S. 40 due to the crash.
