Edinburg, NY : 5-year-old boy killed by falling tree cut down by stepfather in upstate New York on Saturday, Oct 17, 2015

Authorities say a 5-year-old upstate New York boy was killed when his stepfather cut down a tree and it landed on his head.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says emergency officials responded to the scene at around 3:09 p.m. Saturday in Edinburg.

Authorities say the boy's stepfather had cut the tree with a chain saw on their property, causing it to fall on the child's head. The boy sustained serious head injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Authorities say that an investigation is continuing but no wrongdoing is suspected. An autopsy will be performed.
