Troopers had to shut down lanes of Interstate 77 south charlotte for hours after a multi-car crash sent three people to the hospital overnight.
The 4-vehicle wreck happened around 2 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-77 near Arrowood Road.

Troopers are still investigating but think a SUV stopped in the middle of the road, causing a chain reaction crash.
Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
